This is what we are looking for:  an individual or a group of individuals to implement our Latino Children’s Reading Enrichment Curriculum.  This would involve reading stories to children in English and in Spanish and then engaging these children in auxiliary activities to reinforce the material read (both English and Spanish).  These activities could include drawing, sculpting, drama, no bake cooking, etc.  Our purpose is to reinforce reading and language skills in preschoolers in order to increase success in early education.  The curriculum is already created and the author of the curriculum has agreed to provide training to those who implement the program.

The children participating in the program are the children of our ESL students who attend class Monday and Wednesdays from 9:30 – 12:30 and Saturdays 2 – 4:30.  Our location is John Knox Presbyterian Church on Westport Road.

Interested individuals would not have to commit to every day, although consistency would be preferable for the good of the children.  We are very open to students interested in internship opportunities and if a grant is awarded a stipend may be possible.
