A discussion featuring school board member and labor leader Larry Hujo, DREAM Activist Erin Howard as well as a student activist will follow the screening.

WHAT: Free, public screening of Papers
WHEN: Tuesday October 4th at 6:00 pm
WHERE: Louisville’s Film Society’s Theatre, DREAMland, 810 E. Market St.
WHO: Larry Hujo, Erin Howard and student activists

This year, our Winter Festival is on December 17, 2010. Every year, ACC holds this event for all youth and families who participate in our programming. Kids of all ages come to collect a holiday gift, get a warm hat and gloves, and celebrate the season with their families.

At this time, Americana Community Center is looking for donations for Winter Festival. Between 250 – 300 immigrant, refugee and U.S.-born youth will benefit from the event, and we are seeking generous community members who would like to help make this happen! In case you are be able to forward this or spread the word somehow, I’ll let you know the following guidelines:

We seek donations of both winter hats and gloves of all sizes, as well as children’s gifts. Gifts / toys should be around $10 value, unwrapped and no price tags. We cannot accept military or war-related toys, nor religious toys or books. Please provide batteries if not included in toy. Also, our greatest need is gifts for older youth (between the ages of 12 – 18).

You can see more details on the attached updated flyer, and some ideas for gifts for older youth. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions!
